AudioJungle License Types Explained

AudioJungle has one of the most confusing licensing structures in the stock music world. Buyers often aren't sure which license they need, and composers often aren't sure how to explain it. This guide clears it up — whether you're a buyer trying to figure out what to purchase, or a composer trying to understand how your royalties are calculated.

AudioJungle License Types at a Glance

License Best For Broadcast? Price Range
Standard YouTube, social media, web, apps No $19–$200+
Music Standard Broadcast TV, film, radio (up to 1M audience) Yes $100–$500+
Music Broadcast & Film TV, film, radio (1M+ audience) Yes $200–$1,000+

Prices vary by track and are set by the individual composer. Additionally, AuidoJungle may run promotions, which could reduce earnings.

The Standard License: What It Covers

The AudioJungle Standard License covers the vast majority of use cases:

  • YouTube videos (monetized or not)
  • Social media content (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.)
  • Online video ads and web content
  • Podcasts
  • Mobile apps
  • Websites and online presentations
  • Corporate videos for internal use
  • Wedding and event videos

What the Standard License does NOT cover:

  • Television broadcast
  • Radio broadcast
  • Cinema / theatrical film release
  • Streaming platforms (Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.)

If your project will only ever live on the internet, a Standard License is almost certainly what you need.

AudioJungle for YouTube: Which License?

For most YouTube creators, the Standard License is sufficient.

The Standard License covers YouTube videos whether your channel is monetized or not. It also protects you from Content ID claims — your license certificate proves you have the right to use the music.

When you purchase a Standard License, save your license certificate. If you receive a Content ID claim, dispute it through YouTube Studio by submitting the license documentation.

When you might need a Broadcast License for YouTube: If your content is syndicated to television, used in a broadcast network's YouTube channel, or part of a campaign that also airs on TV.

AudioJungle for Podcasts: Which License?

Podcasts fall under the Standard License. A single purchase covers your ongoing use of that track across all episodes of your podcast series — you don't need to repurchase for each episode.

Exception: If your podcast is distributed through broadcast radio (FM/AM, satellite radio), you'd need a Broadcast License.

The Broadcast Licenses: When You Need Them

Music Standard Broadcast: Covers TV broadcasts, radio, and theatrical film with an audience of up to 1 million. Regional TV spots, local radio ads, indie film releases.

Music Broadcast & Film: Covers unlimited broadcast audience size — national TV campaigns, major film releases, international broadcasting. The highest tier with the highest royalty payout for composers.

AudioJungle Pricing: How Much Do Licenses Cost?

Prices are set by individual composers, not the platform. Typical ranges:

  • Standard License: $19–$200 (most commonly $20–$60)
  • Music Standard Broadcast: $100–$500
  • Music Broadcast & Film: $300–$1,000+

For Composers: How License Types Affect Your Royalties

You set your own prices for each license tier. A Broadcast & Film license should be priced significantly higher than your Standard price to reflect its commercial value.

Non-exclusive authors receive approximately 36% of each sale. On a $300 Broadcast License sale, that's ~$108 — versus ~$7 on a $19 Standard License. Getting broadcast placements is a meaningful income upgrade even at lower volume. If the song is exclusively licensed through AuidoJungle, you could expect to earn even more with each sale!

FAQ: AudioJungle Licenses

Do I need a new license for each video I make?
Yes. Each Standard License purchase covers one end product. Multiple separate projects require separate licenses.

Can I use an AudioJungle track on multiple social media platforms?
Yes — a single Standard License covers the same video posted across Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.

What if I get a Content ID claim on YouTube?
Save your license certificate from AudioJungle. Go to YouTube Studio → Content → dispute the claim → submit your license documentation. The claim should be released within a few days.

Does an AudioJungle Standard License cover Spotify?
No. AudioJungle licenses cover music used in video/media productions, not music distributed as standalone recordings on streaming platforms.

Is there an AudioJungle subscription?
No — each track is purchased individually per project. For high-volume access, platforms like Artlist or Musicbed offer subscription-based models.

From a Frustrated Producer in a Ragtag Bedroom Studio to Major Placements on TV Earning $1,000s!

My name is Evan, and I've been making music since around 3rd grade. I'm from San Diego, California, but I've lived in Washington, DC for the last 20 years.

After 3 grueling years of grad school, though I had put aside serious attempts at making music. I found myself spending my days doing work that was dreadfully uncreative, with a ton of student student loan debt.

Which made me feel like my favorite parts of myself were withering.

But I didn't know what to do about it.

Being in my early 30s with tons of student loan debt, in a world where there is "no money in music," I felt like my youthful dreams of trying to "make it big" were dead. Like my music would remain unheard in my head and hard drive.

Frustrated by my inability to get my music heard, I started researching solutions.

Instead, I wanted to find a way where I could focus on making the music and let someone else deal with promoting it.

I realized the music licensing was the perfect opportunity for a solo artist like me to get my music heard, without having to do any promotion. I just need to focus on improving what I could control - my songwriting and my production skills.

While I still have a full-time day job, I have created systems that have allowed me to produce dozens of songs a year in my spare time.

My songs have been on Netflix, TV shows like the 90 Day Fiance, an award-winning indie film, and NPR’s “All Thing Considered.” They've also been streamed millions of times.

In addition to being a music producer, I am passionate about teaching people how they can make professional-sounding music and earn money licensing it, all in their spare time.

Thousands of musicians, like yourself, have trusted me to guide their musical journey. My YouTube videos have been watched nearly a million times. And my story has been in Forbes, Side Hustle Nation, and the Side Hustle School.
